Over the years, many generations have enjoyed ‘The Addams Family’ in one way or another. From the old cartoons/sitcom to the two theatrical 1990s movies (ones I grew up watching) to now the animated features, every generation has grown up with the weirdest family on the screen.
Now, the kookiest family is back on the big screen in the sequel to the 2019 animated flick.
In the animated sequel ‘The Addams Family 2,’ we find Morticia and Gomez distraught that their children are growing up, skipping family dinners and totally consumed with “scream time.” To reclaim their bond they decide to cram the family into their haunted camper and hit the road for one last miserable family vacation.
Their vacation across America takes them out of their element and into hilarious run-ins
with their iconic cousin Itt, as well as some new kooky characters.
What could possibly
go wrong?
The ‘Addams’ animated sequel is great family entertainment for all ages. Just watching the weird family go on a crazy family road trip will really keep the kiddos laughing.
There are several stand-out moments in the movie that will really keep you entertained. Wednesday Addams’ subplot about finding who she is and where she belongs adds a nice little to this animated sequel. The message is to be yourself and don’t force someone to be who they’re not.
And, while the family is having their adventure-filled humorous fun, Grandma Addams is watching the house and throwing huge parties. All of those scenes are hilarious and almost steals the show. The family feature also has a few twists and surprises scattered throughout that helps keep the fun moving.
So, get the whole family to the theater and check out ‘The Addams Family 2.’ It delivers a lot of weird, quirky humor, lots of great fun and even some heart. The latest adventure of this kooky family is worth it.
The cast: Oscar Isaac (upcoming Dune); Charlize Theron (F9: The Fast Saga) as Morticia Addams; Chloe Grace Moretz (Tom and Jerry) as Wednesday Addams; Javon ‘Wanna’ Walton (Amazon Prime’s Utopia) as Pugsley Addams; Nick Kroll (Secret Life of Pets 2) as Uncle Fester; Bill Hader (It: Chapter Two) as Cyrus Strange; Wallace Shawn (CBSs Young Sheldon) as Mr. Mustela; Cherami Leigh as Ophelia; Snoop Dogg as Itt and Bette Midler as Grandma.
‘Addams Family 2’ is written by Dan Gerandez (Detective Pikachu), Benji Samit (Detective Pikachu), Ben Queen (Cars 2) and Susanna Fogel (Booksmart). The sequel is directed by Greg Tiernan and Conrad Vernon; both directors also helmed the 2019 ‘Addams Family’ and the R-rated animated comedy ‘Sausage Party.’
Following the 2019 film’s successful opening weekend on Oct. 15, 2019, it was announced that a sequel to the film was already in development. The film will also be available for online rental.
‘The Addams Family 2’ is rated PG for macabre and rude humor, violence and language and has a running time of
93 minutes.
The animated feature will begin playing once again starting Friday, Oct. 8, when the Dietrich re-opens.
