The ‘American Pie’ series has always had its ups and downs. In between the theatrical releases, the series had its own ‘Presents’ spin-off series. The quality of the spin-offs has always been okay at the very best. The last decent movie in the franchise was probably the 2012 movie ‘American Reunion.’ And, this latest spin-off is no exception.
Sure, there are a few parts in the movie that can give you a little chuckle. But, most of the humor that the franchise is known for is out the window and gone. So, in other words, the studio should either reboot the series the right way or just simply end it already!
*One of the shortest mini reviews I probably will write*
Here are a few kinda interesting tidbits about ‘American Pie Presents: Girls Rules’:
This is the first (and right now only) ‘American Pie’ movie not to have Eugene Levy (Jim’s dad) in it.
The first movie in the series to not have an unrated version.
Premiered on Netflix simultaneously with its DVD and digital release on October 6, 2020.
First ‘American Pie’ movie to feature a female Stifler as a leading character.
After the success of ‘American Pie Presents: The Book of Love’ (the last DVD sequel), writer David H. Steinberg was hired in 2010 to write the next DVD movie of the series ‘American Pie Presents: East Great Falls,’ centered around four male students at East Great Falls High School who all fall in love with the same female student. Universal Studios hired new writers in 2017 to flip the genders of all the characters.
