The time has come to finally check out the last installment of the 'Blade' trilogy - 'Blade: Trinity.' I did some reading about the third movie and a lot of people said it plainly sucked. Despite that I still kept an open mind when I watched the movie.

So, the third 'Blade' movie does have some cool action moments. It's not as dark as the previous entries and actually has some pretty cheesy moments.

It honestly seems like they did the third movie just so they can introduce the new side characters of Whistler's daughter and Hannibal King so they can have either their own spin-off movie or continue on with the franchise to some capacity.

If you have enjoyed the trilogy, then you may like this one. This was my first time watching the 'Blade' movies and thoroughly enjoyed the first two and didn't like this one as much. But, to end the trilogy on a kinda whimper isn't necessarily a good thing.

'Blade: Trinity' and the rest of the trilogy can be streamed on HBO Max through the end of the month and available on various PVOD rental platforms.

Here are a few interesting tidbits for 'Blade: Trinity':

• 'Blade II' director Guillermo del Toro passed on the film when 'Hellboy', his dream project, was just greenlit.

• Stephen Norrington, the original movie's director, had at one point considered returning to direct this movie. But he changed his mind after reading the script which he didn't like.

• An early idea by Goyer for the movie was to be set many years after the events of the 2002 movie, where vampires finally had achieved world domination and enslaved all humans, with Blade being the last hope of humanity. Blade's slower aging could be explained by his vampire blood. The storyline was deemed too dark and was later dropped.

• In 2001, before the release of the first sequel, New Line made a deal with Goyer to write and produce a third movie.

• Reportedly, Snipes was unhappy with the script and choice of director. Snipes also reportedly caused difficulty during filming, including frequently refusing to shoot scenes, often forcing Goyer to use stand ins and CG to add his character to scenes.

• The movie's domestic gross was $52 million, and the total worldwide gross was $128.9 million.

• Numerous proposed spin-offs were cancelled, including a prequel trilogy (featuring Deacon Frost) and a possible 'Blade'/'Underworld' crossover.

• The film rights reverted to Marvel Studios in 2012.
