The 1995 movie 'Casper' is one of those movies that everyone has seen at least once and enjoyed at some point!

'Casper' is a modern classic and is quite enjoyable. There are quite a few moments that are really hilarious and will leave you laughing out loud. The several cameos that are shown in the movie due to the ghosts antics will surely make you laugh and everyone will be able to recognize every single one.

It also does feature a few heart-warming moments as well, such as when Casper is briefly human and when the Dr. Harvey character was able to see his dead wife's ghost and say goodbye one final time.

This is one of those movie's that is absolutely perfect for a family movie night and, honestly, I can't believe that this movie is almost three decades old!! It's 27 years old to be exact!

• This is the first feature film to have a fully CG visual effects character in a leading role.

• The town of Friendship, Maine is the name of a real village in mid-coast Maine, near Camden and Rockport, where scenes from the movie were filmed.

• James and Kat Harvey are name after Harvey Comics, the long time publisher of 'Casper the Friendly Ghost.'

• A scene was filmed with Zelda Rubinstein shooting out of a chimney and shouting 'Go toward the light!," reprising her 'Poltergeist' role, but it was cut.

• 'Casper' opened at No. 1 over the Memorial Day weekend, grossing $16.8 million over its first 3 days from 2,714 theaters, ending up with a final gross of $100.3 million in North America, and an additional $187.6 million internationally, for a worldwide total of $287.9 million, far exceeding its $55 million budget and becoming a commercial success.

• A cartoon series, 'The Spooktacular New Adventures of Casper,' was released in 1996 based on the movie.

• With Harvey Entertainment retaining prequel rights to 'Casper,' two direct to video prequels were released: 'Casper: A Spirited Beginning' in 1997 and 'Casper Meets Wendy' in 1998.

• Following the release of this movie, a sequel was commissioned and was in early development. However, in July 2000, it was reported that Universal had cancelled the sequel due to the disappointing sales from the prequels and Ricci's hesitations.
