When I was putting together my little DC slate for my Exclusive Series, I kept deating whether or not to include this movie. From what I read about the movie over the years, this was one of the worst DC movies ever released. So, after awhile, my curiosity kicked in and figured what the hell ... how bad could it be?
Well, this is gonna be a quick take. Boy I thought Batman & Robin was cheesy. A lot of lines in this movie are really really cheesy and the visual effects really sucked. This is one of those movies that I really could not find a positive thing about! So, this movie definitely AVOID!!!
Here are some interesting tidbits for Catwoman that might be more interesting than the movie itself!
A rough cut of the trailer was put online a few months before its release, and drew such heavy criticism that it was quickly pulled. It was soon replaced with a new trailer which didn't feature any dialogue.
The movie had to undergo re-shoots after testing poorly with screeners, with only a month left before the theatrical release date.
The fighting style used by Catwoman is the Brazilian martial art known as capoeira.
The movie is included on the film critic Roger Ebert's "Most-Hated" list.
With WB developing Batman Forever in June 1993, a Catwoman spin-off was announced. Michelle Pfeiffer was cast to reprise her Batman Returns role, Tim Burton became attached as director. After numerous delays, the project stalled.
The movie labored in development hell for years and when WB canceled their first attempt of a Batman vs. Superman movie scheduled for 2004, the studio decided to quickly produce Catwoman as a replacement.
Catwoman earned a gross of $40.2 million in North America and $41.9 million in other territories for a worldwide total of $82.1 million against a production budget of $100 million.
