‘Creed III’ An Exciting, Satisfying Third Round

When the main ‘Rocky’ series had its sixth entry in 2006 (‘Rocky Balboa’ - I just re-watched this the other day), everyone thought that this would be the final time we could see anything in the ‘Rocky’ universe. In 2015, a spin-off film ‘Creed’, was released and the main focus of the film is Adonis Creed, the son of Apollo Creed. With great reviews and box office success, the spin-off eventually became a series, and Balboa came back for the first two sequels.
Now, after a few year wait, ‘Creed’ is back for another round in the highly anticipated ‘Creed III.’
After dominating the boxing world, Adonis Creed has been thriving in both his career and family life.
When a childhood friend and former boxing prodigy, Damian, resurfaces after serving a long sentence in prison, he is eager to prove that he deserves his shot in the ring.
The face off between former friends is more than just a fight. To settle the score, Adonis must put his future on the line to battle Damian - a fighter who has nothing to lose.
‘Creed III’ is a riveting and strong entry of this ‘Rocky’ spin-off series. The third ‘Creed’ movie delivers a lot of excellent boxing scenes and you surely won’t be disappointed if you have enjoyed any of the other installments of the overall ‘Rocky’/’Creed’ series.
Michael B. Jordan, who portrays Adonis Creed, makes his directorial debut with this sequel and he definitely does a great job keeping the movie refreshing and the boxing matches exhilarating. There are quite a few segments throughout the movie that will really keep you entertained.
The boxing scenes are incredibly entertaining and amazingly shot. A little fun fact about the boxing sequences: Michael B. Jordan is a huge anime fan and he actually borrowed elements from several anime series and used them to create the boxing scenes, especially during the final fight. And, speaking of the final fight, this fight is really powerful at times and you can really feel the intensity between the two boxers who are trying to prove something.
Jonathan Majors is the stand-out performer of this movie. His performance is really riveting and absolutely steals the show in many of his scenes. Some of his scenes with the Adonis Creed character can be really tense and his performance makes the boxing scenes even better.
Overall, ‘Creed III’ is an energetic, and at times, emotional entry of the entire series. It’s filled with fun entertainment, great performances and amazing boxing scenes. This movie also shows that the spin-off series can still live on without an appearance of Rocky Balboa. And, with what I saw in this third movie, I can’t wait to see what they will be working on next for a potential fourth movie (which I’m sure will happen).

‘Creed III’ is written by Keenan Coogler (Space Jam: A New Legacy) and Zach Baylin (King Richard) and marks the directorial debut of ‘Creed’ star Michael B. Jordan.
‘Creed III’ is rated PG-13 for intense sports action, violence and some strong language and has a running time of 116 minutes.
