Starting to get posts and reviews caught up for both the Examiner and here on the site! So, now it's time to get my TRIVIA posts caught up for the recent movies I have checked out for the Examiner!
First off ... here are some trivia facts for DC LEAGUE OF SUPER-PETS!!!
Chip is based on Ch'p, who is a Green Lantern in DC Comics lore. In this film however they have electric powers instead of a lantern ring.
With the exception of Vanessa Bayer's PB, all League members are based on actual DC Comics characters.
Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart's fifth film collaboration together, after Central Intelligence (2016), Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017), Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019) (where Hart appeared in a cameo role), and Jumanji: The Next Level (2019). This is also their first animated PG rated movie together unlike their previous films which were live action and were rated PG-13.
The second Warner Animation Group film to be in co-production with DC Entertainment, after The Lego Batman Movie (2017), released five years prior.
Krypto is the first character in the DC universe that Dwayne Johnson is playing. He is also playing the title role in Black Adam (2022), which is also releasing in 2022 a few months later.
The post-credits scene has Black Adam and his black Pharaoh Hound Anubis make an appearance. Both are voiced by Dwayne Johnson, who will play Black Adam in Black Adam (2022).
Anubis is an original pet created for this film; Black Adam has no pets in the comics.
In July 2018, Jared Stern was hired to write and direct an animated film about DC's Legion of Super-Pets.[22] In January 2019, it was announced that Sam Levine would serve as co-director with Stern, and that Patricia Hicks had signed on as producer.[23] Stern developed a pitch for the film after working in an animal shelter, where he noticed how older animals were less likely to be adopted and wondered "what if those pets got superpowers?"
The animation was provided by Animal Logic in Sydney and Vancouver, which also provided animation for the Warner Animation Group's The Lego Movie series. Approximately 70 animators worked on the film. Animators worked on the film for 2 years, as well as an extra 3–4 months after the film's release date was delayed by a year.
In January 2019, the film was scheduled to be released on May 21, 2021. The release date was later pushed back to May 20, 2022, in favor of The Matrix Resurrections, another WB film starring Reeves. It was then pushed back to July 29, 2022 (taking the release of Black Adam, which also stars Johnson), among other films from Warner Bros. getting pushed due to production delays. The film's premiere was held on July 27. It is eligible to become available on HBO Max and/or premium video on demand 45 days after its theatrical release, under a plan announced by WarnerMedia in 2021, though subsequent announcements by new parent company Warner Bros. Discovery suggest that streaming timing will be considered on a "case-by-case" basis going forward.
As of August 14, 2022, DC League of Super-Pets has grossed $58.3 million in the United States and Canada, and $51.4 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $109.7 million
