Over the years, we have been introduced to the DC super-hero team known as the Justice League. The original members consist of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman and Green Lantern (even though the 2011 movie was a bit of a misfire). Yet, there is also another DC super-hero team that hasn’t made the jump onto the big screen — until now.

Now, it’s time to get acquainted with the next DC team — ‘The League of Super-Pets’ (or ‘Legion of Super-Pets,’ which is the actual comic name).

In ‘DC League of Super-Pets,’ Krypto the Super-Dog and Superman are inseparable best friends, sharing the same superpowers and fighting crime in Metropolis side by side. When Superman and the rest of the Justice League are kidnapped, Krypto must convince a rag-tag shelter pack — Ace the hound, PB the pot bellied pig, Merton the turtle and Chip the squirrel — to master their newfound powers and help him rescue the heroes.

‘League of Super-Pets’ is a real fun time for both children and their parents. This DC animated film delivers quite a few hilarious moments that kids will easily enjoy.

The latest animated feature has quite a few likable characters that audiences will enjoy. Kids will really enjoy seeing all of the super-powered pets get into some good action and all the fun antics that ensues. Dwayne Johnson (Krypto) and Kevin Hart (Ace the Hound) are very humorous together, even if they are just providing voices for characters. These two actors have appeared in numerous films together and they always seem like they have a great time working together.

The infamous Justice League characters also have some fun, memorable moments in this film as well. One of the stand-out characters is definitely Batman, voiced by ‘John Wick’ himself Keanu Reeves. His take of the Caped Crusader is really hysterical at times and steals the show. There are also a few jokes that might go over the children’s heads a bit, but nonetheless, they will still have a blast watching this movie.

‘League of Super-Pets’ also has some really cool action and amazing animation. A few parts in the film that can also be a little emotional. People of all age groups will like this animated DC movie. Since it’s going to be the last new animated film to be on the big screen until sometime this fall, make sure to take the family out and check out some superhero family fun. Some of the voice talent include: Dwayne Johnson as Krypto; Kevin Hart as Ace; Kate McKinnon as Lulu; John Krasinski as Superman/Clark Kent; Vanessa Bayer as PB; Natasha Lyonne as Merton; Diego Luna as Chip; Marc Maron as Lex Luthor; Olivia Wilde as Lois Lane and Keanu Reeves as Batman, among many others.

‘DC League of Super-Pets’ is written by Jared Stern (The Lego Ninjago Movie; The Lego Batman Movie) and John Whittington (Sonic the Hedgehog 2) and directed by Sam Levine and Stern.

Here is a quick little bit of history about the ‘Super-Pets’ comic. The Legion of Super-Pets is a fictional team of super-powered pets in the DC Universe. This superhero team first appeared in Adventure Comics #293 that was published in February 1962.

The Legion of Super-Pets and their history were removed from the canon of the mainstream DC Comics following the reality-altering crossover Crisis on Infinite Earths (1985-1986). Years later, in 2017, a new Legion of Super-Pets team appeared in the Post-DC Rebirth in Super Sons Annual #1.

‘DC League of Super-Pets’ is rated PG for action, mild violence, language and rude humor and has a running time of 106 minutes.
