‘Death on the Nile’ an intriguing mystery

A few years ago, Agatha Christie’s well-known detective, Hercule Poirot, was re-introduced to film audiences with the 2017 feature ‘Murder on the Orient Express.’ The murder-mystery ended up being a decent hit for critics and audiences.

Now, after a longer than anticipated wait between release date changes and production setbacks, the renowned detective comes back for another mystery in ‘Death on the Nile.’

In the 20th Century Studios presentation of ‘Death on the Nile,’ Belgian sleuth Poirot’s Egyptian vacation aboard a glamorous river steamer turns into a terrifying search for a murderer when a picture-perfect couple’s idyllic honeymoon is tragically cut short. Set against an epic landscape of sweeping desert vistas and the majestic Giza pyramids, this tale of unabridged passion and incapacitating jealousy features a cosmopolitan group of impeccably dressed travelers, and enough twists and turns to leave audiences guessing until the end.

The latest Poirot mystery is a thrilling feature that is really intriguing and a don’t miss. This mystery delivers several twists and turns that you won’t see coming and Agatha Christie fans will surely enjoy this film adaptation.

The film has quite a few interesting sub-plots and they all wrap up nicely. ‘Nile’ also has quite a few moments that build a good amount of tension and suspense. This outstanding whodunit thriller is very enjoyable, really well-paced and has an incredible conclusion.

‘Death on the Nile’ also has some incredible Egyptian scenery that is truly beautiful. In fact, the incredible scenery is one of the many highlights of this Agatha Christie adaptation.

20th Century Fox announced the development of ‘Nile’ on November 20, 2017. The only two characters to appear in both this film and ‘Orient Express’ are Poirot himself and his friend Bouc. Actually, the Bouc character doesn’t appear in the novel, but was added in place of a similar character from the book.

Principal photography began on September 30, 2019 and lasted until December 18, 2019. The release date for ‘Death on the Nile’ has been changed numerous times primarily due to the pandemic and the Disney/Fox acquisition, among a few other production issues.

Just recently, 20th Century Studios President Steve Asbell confirmed that a third movie was in development. Branagh will return and the movie will take place in “post-war Venice” and will be an adaptation of one of the lesser-known novels.

‘Death on the Nile’ is rated PG-13 for violence, some bloody images, and sexual content and has a running time of 127 minutes.
