‘Dominion’ a thrilling end for beloved franchise

Almost 30 years ago, filmmaker Steven Spielberg brought the unique world of dinosaurs to the big screen in the beloved 1993 film ‘Jurassic Park.’ Everyone — not scared — fell in love with these amazing dinosaurs and the film itself.

Who knew that the 1993 film would spawn one of the most successful franchises ever. The series came back to life in 2015 after being dormant for some time, and now it’s time to finish up the series on a high note with the supposedly concluding entry of the franchise — ‘Jurassic World: Dominion.’

It has been four years since the island Isla Nublar was destroyed by the volcanic eruptions. Dinosaurs now live — and hunt — alongside humans all over the world. This fragile balance will reshape the future and determine, once and for all, whether human beings are to remain the apex predators on a planet they now share with history’s most fearsome creatures.

‘Dominion’ is an entertaining and action-packed conclusion to the ‘Jurassic’ saga. The third entry of the ‘Jurassic World’ trilogy delivers a lot of great dinosaur action and some very tense moments.

A few sequences really stand out. The entire chase scene where dinosaurs are let loose in the European nation of Malta is really awesome. Also, seeing a few of the dinosaurs chasing the Owen Grady character while he’s on a motorcycle is incredibly shot and exhilarating to watch.

This ‘Jurassic’ film can be a little emotional at a few spots. Seeing some of the dinosaurs roam free is a very nice touch and inspires awe.

Also, watching the original ‘Jurassic’ cast back together for one final ride definitely gives this entry an amazing nostalgic feel. There are also a few callbacks in this sequel that references both the original 1993 film and the ‘Jurassic World’ series. The Henry Wu character, who helped engineer the hybrid dinosaurs in the previous ‘Jurassic World’ entries, has a nice little redemption arc of sorts in this film.

Even though the story for ‘Dominion’ is intriguing, it seems a little jumbled here and there, and perhaps and likely conclusion of the series is a great film to see on the big screen. Filled with action, great dinosaur visuals, and of course, seeing the OG cast back together, this is a fitting way to conclude this beloved franchise. Some of the cast include: Chris Pratt as Owen Grady; Bryce Dallas Howard as Claire Dearing; Laura Dern as Dr. Ellie Sattler, Sam Neill as Dr. Alan Grant; Jeff Goldblum as Dr. Ian Malcolm; DeWanda Wise as Kayla Watts; Mamoudou Athie as Ramsay Cole; BD Wong as Dr. Henry Wu; Omar Sy as Barry Sembene; Justice Smith as Franklin Webb; Daniella Pineda as Dr. Zia Rodriguez; Scott Haze as Rainn Delacourt; Dichen Lachman as Soyona Santos; and Isabella Sermon as Maisie Lockwood/young Charlotte Lockwood.

‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ is written by Emily Carmichael (Pacific Rim: Uprising) and Colin Trevorrow (Fallen Kingdom) and also directed by Trevorrow (also directed the first Jurassic World feature).

‘Dominion’ is rated PG-13 for intense sequences of action, some violence and language and has a running time of 146 minutes.
