‘Dragons’ An Entertaining Fantasy Adventure

In 2000, studios decided to give a film adaptation of the ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ game a try and let’s just say it didn’t end well for them - grossing only $33 million worldwide and spawning two sequels that went right to home media.

Now, a brand new adaptation of the still popular game arrives on the big screen. And, even if you aren’t a fan of the games or aren’t too familiar with them, this movie will still keep you entertained.

In ‘Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves,’ a charming thief and a band of unlikely adventurers embark on an epic quest to retrieve a long lost relic. But their adventure goes dangerously awry when they run afoul of the wrong people.

Before seeing this movie, I wasn’t all too familiar with the popular game. And, honestly, if you aren’t at all into the games, you will still have a great time watching the movie.

This action adventure delivers some amazing looking visuals and the action throughout the movie is really great. All of the fantasy action that occurs will really keep you entertained and the entire third action sequence where the heroes are trying to save the day is awesome.

‘Honor Among Thieves’ does an outstanding job blending the action, drama and humor. The actors that are in the movie work really well together and Hugh Grant (who has a pivotal part) steals the show a few times. One of the few bits where the humor is at its highest is where the characters use a spell where they bring back a few dead people to life to ask a few questions about an artifact they have to find. You have to see the entire scene to see. A little bit of the scene is featured in the trailers.

One stand out sequence that is both visually great and a little humorous is where the lead characters are being chased by a dragon. The third action of the movie really delivers and the use of magic used in that scene and the entire movie is really cool to watch.

So, overall, ‘Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves’ is an entertaining fun fantasy adventure that won’t disappoint. Like I said, even if you aren’t familiar with the Dungeons & Dragons world, you will still have a good time.

‘Dungeons & Dragons’ is written by Michael Gilio and co-written-directed by duo John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein (both of them worked on Spider-Man: Homecoming, Game Night and Hulu’s Vacation Friends).

‘Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves’ is rated PG-13 for fantasy/action violence and some language and has a running time of 134 minutes.
