‘Elemental’ a refreshingly beautiful story

The summer season is finally here and it’s time to take the whole family out for a movie night to check out the latest film from Pixar.
Disney and Pixar’s ‘Elemental,’ an all new, original feature film set in Element City, where fire, water, land and air residents live together.
The story introduces Ember, a tough, quick-witted and fiery young woman, whose friendship with a fun, sappy, go-with-the-flow guy named Wade challenges her beliefs about the world they live in.
‘Elemental,’ the latest film from animation juggernaut Pixar, is a very enjoyable family film that delivers some very great humor and some bitter sweet moments.
The latest Pixar release has many likable characters, especially the Ember and Wade characters. These two characters at first get on each other’s nerves. Yet, after a while, they do get closer.
The Ember character is definitely the heart of the feature film. Ember has always been close with her parents and always seemed to enjoy helping her father around their little store. Throughout the film, you see that Ember will do anything possible to show her father that she can run the store. But, later you see that she is a little conflicted with either wanting to follow her own dreams or wanting to make her parents happy. During a few of those moments is where things can get a little emotional.
The Ember/Wade plot can be a little predictable at times. Yet, their relationship is very bittersweet and funny. Wade is one of those characters that may take a little bit to get used to. At first, he can be a tad on the annoying side. Throughout the course of the film, Wade does quite a few things that will eventually win over both Ember and the viewing audience.
Like some other Pixar releases, ‘Elemental’ focuses on family, which I think is a really nice touch, especially for this film. There are quite a few moments in the film that show that no matter what, Ember will always be there for her family. I’m not going to spoil any moments, but there are a couple parts where it will tug at your heartstrings a little bit.
Overall, ‘Elemental’ is a great film from Pixar and shows that Pixar still has what it takes to make a magical, endearing film. The film has beautiful animation, great humor and is definitely a film that the entire family should come out and see! There’s also a nice little short film that features Carl and Dug from ‘Up’ that’s really enjoyable.

‘Elemental’ is written by John Hoberg, Kat Likkel and Brenda Hsueh and is directed by Peter Sohn (The Good Dinosaur).
‘Elemental’ is rated PG for some peril, thematic elements and brief language and has a running time of 109 minutes.
