‘Everything Everywhere’ a must-see film

When ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’ was starting its theatrical release in March, no one had any idea that it would eventually become one of the most acclaimed and talked-about films of 2022 (well, so far). After its initial start as a limited release, the film’s popularity quickly skyrocketed and the film earned a few wide expansions throughout the last month.

Now, the film finally arrives at the Dietrich and audiences can take a trip through the multiverse right here in town with this insane and awesome indie film. In the A24 presentation of ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once,’ when an interdimensional rupture unravels reality, an unlikely hero must channel her newfound powers to fight bizarre and bewildering dangers from the multiverse as the fate of the world hangs in the balance. This incredible flick is one of those films that you have to see on the big screen. ‘Everything Everywhere’ delivers spectacular visuals, a completely original story and great performances from everyone involved. The latest indie feature will leave you completely entertained from beginning to end. This very creative film will make you laugh and feel a little emotional in certain parts. And just like the title of the film says, this film has everything: drama, action, comedy, romance, and even bits of science fiction. The filmmakers did an exceptional job with the film’s story and using the concept of the multiverse, which is intriguing. The film is imaginative, and the action that is featured is visually stunning and crazy fun. You will just have to see the film for yourself. So, definitely make sure to check this out. The film also makes you think about the concept of the multiverse and also makes you wonder if such a thing as the multiverse can really exist. Plus, don’t forget, if you want more multiverse fun, there is also the ‘Doctor Strange’ sequel, ‘Multiverse of Madness,’ which I will be checking out for the next edition.

Development for the film really got moving a few years ago. During the film’s pre-production stage, Jackie Chan was considered for the leading role. The script was originally written for the actor before Kwan and Scheinert changed their minds and re-conceived the lead role as a woman. Also, for some ‘Indiana Jones’ enthusiasts out there — Short Round is back to acting. Actor Ke Huy Quan, famously known for the role of Short Round in ‘Temple of Doom,’ portrays the lead character’s husband Waymond Wong. Quan also appeared in a little movie called ‘The Goonies’ and ‘Encino Man’ before taking an acting hiatus. The film for distributor A24 (which produces and distributes several independent films) earned a lot of critical acclaim and has grossed roughly $40 million domestically and counting (and $43 million worldwide) on a budget of roughly $25 million. A24 has also produced/distributed a few known indies, such as ‘Spring Breakers,’ ‘A Most Violent Year,’ ‘Ex Machina,’ ‘Uncut Gems,’ ‘Hereditary,’ ‘Midsommar’ and so much more. ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’ is rated R for some violence, sexual material and language and has a running time of 140 minutes.
