The Netflix Original film ‘Extraction’ really delivers lots of action-packed moments that can get extremely intense. Some of the movie’s reviews complained that the action flick doesn’t have much of a plot. But, what awesome action movie does have one?

‘Extraction’ is one of those movies that is just great mindless action-packed entertainment that will really keep you entertained. The action really kicks into high gear once the main character (Tyler Rake) has the drug lord;s son.

And, the entire action sequence that is edited to make it look like one long shot is just awesome. The entire third act of the movie is jammed packed with lots of insane action and heart-pounding moments.

Here are some interesting tidbits about the Netflix Original ‘Extraction’:

• According to director Sam Hargrave, the nationwide ban on firearms on location in India was so strict, the production had to import rubber prop guns without any moving parts at all. For the first major action rescue sequence, for example, these dummy weapons were used exclusively without any blank rounds being discharged. The entire sequence had to be digitally animated in post to give the impression that shots were being fired from these ‘weapons.’

• According to Hargrave, the 11 min 29 sec continuous one take shot is made up of 36 different stitched sequences. Some of these sequences took 25 takes in order to line up correctly.

• For some of the immersive car chases, stuntman-turned-director Sam Hargrave, manned his camera while strapped to the front of the pursuit car.

• Director Sam Hargrave’s directorial debut. He was a stunt double for Chris Evans’ Captain America, then eventually the go-to fight choreographer for Marvel and the MCU.

• Writer Joe Russo has explained the ambiguous ending, with an out of focus figure in the distance, as being a key part to the possibility of a sequel. A sequel is currently in development.

• Production began in Ahmedabad and Mumbai in November 2018. Filming took place in Ban Pong, Ratchaburi, Thailand.

• The movie’s working title was initially ‘Dhaka’ but was changed to ‘Out of the Fire,’ before the final title was revealed to be ‘Extraction.’

• ‘Extraction’ was the top-streamed item in its debut weekend, then fell to No. 6 (but third among films) in its second week. Netflix estimated the film would be watched by about 90 million households during the first month of release, the biggest premiere in the service’s history.

• In July 2020, Netflix revealed the film had in fact been watched by 99 million households in its first weeks of release, the most ever for one of their original films. In November, Variety reported the film was the fourth most watched straight to streaming title of 2020 up to that point.

• In December 2020, the Russo brothers stated that beyond the announced sequel they hope to develop a series of movies set within the world of ‘Extinction’ to not only explore some of the characters that were introduced but to potentially launch a cinematic universe.
