'Fabelmans’ an inspiring, beautiful feature

Steven Spielberg is one of the most renowned filmmakers in the film industry’s history. He’s also one of my all-time favorite directors. Over the years, the acclaimed filmmaker brought us films like the ‘Indiana Jones’ series (except the upcoming fifth entry), ‘Jurassic Park,’ ‘Saving Private Ryan,’ ‘Hook,’ ‘West Side Story’ and the list goes on.

Now, Spielberg has put together a semi-autobiographical story loosely based on his adolescence and first years as a filmmaker in ‘The Fabelmans.’

Young Sammy Fabelman falls in love with movies after his parents take him to see ‘The Greatest Show on Earth.’

Armed with a camera, Sammy starts to make his own films at home, much to the delight of his supportive mother.

‘The Fabelmans’ is a heart-warming and wonderful little film that can be truly inspiring. The latest Spielberg film delivers amazing performances from the entire cast and has some very heart-felt moments.

The film features quite a few segments that are extremely touching. Quite a few of the scenes that show the younger Sammy Fabelman can be rather moving, seeing how excited he was making those little films of his. The small home videos that are shown throughout the film are actual re-creations of what Spielberg worked on during his younger years.

The story is extremely well told and the entire cast did an astounding job. Lead performers Paul Dano and Michelle Williams are outstanding as Sammy’s parents. These two performers are brilliant in any film they appear in. Judd Birsch and filmmaker David Lynch also have small roles in the film and in their limited screen time, they are simply amazing!

‘Fabelmans’ is one of Spielberg’s best and is his most personal film since his family and early life helped inspire this film. The feature film can be rather captivating, moving and will truly inspire you to follow your dreams, whatever they might be.

‘The Fabelmans’ is written by Steven Spielberg (A.I.: Artificial Intelligence) and Tony Kuschner (West Side Story; Munich; Lincoln) and also directed by Spielberg (West Side Story; Ready Player One).

This is the first film that acclaimed filmmaker Steven Spielberg has helped write since the 2001 movie ‘A.I.: Artificial Intelligence.’ The film received a strongly positive reception at its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, receiving two standing ovations from the audience, one before the film when Spielberg took the stage to introduce it, and a longer one preceding the post film Q&A.

‘The Fabelmans’ has also received numerous nominations. It was featured in the American Film Institute’s Top Ten Films of the Year list. It was also nominated for numerous Critics Choice Awards and the Golden Globes. You can find more interesting little tidbits on my Facebook review page soon.

‘The Fabelmans’ is rated PG-13 for some strong language, thematic elements, brief violence and drug use and has a running time of 151 minutes.
