Plot: In modern day Wyoming, teenager Katy McLaughlin dreams of working on and, one day, taking over her father’s ranch. ‘Flicka’ is a nice little family film that is really sweet and enjoyable, especially if you have a love for horses.

There are quite a few incredible moments that show the young girl trying to train the untamed mustang, despite her father’s objections. Throughout the course of the movie, the girl and her father have some conflicted feelings with her having anything to do with the wild mustang. ‘Flicka’ can also be very amusing, and at times, sad - especially towards the last twenty or thirty minutes of the movie.

The Wyoming scenery that is featured throughout the movie is really beautiful and breath-taking. The movie also features a really great Tim McGraw song that he wrote and performed specifically for the movie - entitled ‘My Little Girl.’

Here are a few interesting tidbits about ‘Flicka’:

• At 27 years of age, Alison Lohman was eleven years older than the character she plays in the movie.

• “Flicka” is a Swedish word that means “girl.”

• Tim McGraw helped co-write the song `My Little Girl '' for the movie and it's the first song that he wrote and recorded; he has said he wrote other songs, but they weren’t very good.

• Loosely based on the 1941 children’s novel ‘My Friend Flicka’ by Mary O’Hara.

• The Novel had previously been made into a film by Fox in 1943 and served as the inspiration for ‘My Friend Flicka,’ a 39 episode TV series in 1956 and 1957.

• A sequel, ‘Flicka 2,’ was released direct to DVD on May 4, 2010, and another sequel, ‘Flicka: Country Pride,’ was released on May 1, 2012.

• This $15 million film grossed $21 million in the US theaters, and then it went on to become a surprise hit in the US DVD market, it made more than $48 million on DVD sales, and more than $19 million on DVD/home video rental.
