‘Forever Purge’ An Effective Solid Action Thriller

The ‘Purge’ franchise began in June 2013 with the movie simply titled ‘The Purge’ and became a huge surprise hit. With its main premise that all crime is legal for only twelve hours one night a year, the 2013 release spawned two sequels, a 2018 prequel and a TV series.

Now, the ‘Purge’ continues onto the big screen in ‘The Forever Purge.’

In the Universal Pictures presentation of ‘The Forever Purge,’ Adela and her husband Juan live in Texas, where Juan is working as a ranch hand for the wealthy Tucker family. Juan impresses the Tucker patriarch, Caleb, but that fuels jealous anger of Caleb’s son, Dylan.

On the morning after The Purge, a masked gang of killers attacks the Tucker family, forcing both families to band together and fight back as the country spirals into chaos and begins to disintegrate around them.

‘The Forever Purge’ is an interesting and suspenseful entry to the series. The fifth installment delivers quite a bit of tense action and moments of awesome suspense. Just like the other movies, ‘Forever Purge’ adds a bit of political commentary into the plot.

The fifth movie does keep things exciting as it's the first in the movie franchise to mainly take place after the twelve hours of the Purge. With fast-paced action and moments that can leave you on the edge-of-your-seat, fans will surely enjoy this (potentially) final installment. (Side note: even though they say it will be the last, I’m sure there will be another).

The only main difference between this entry and the others is that throughout most of the movie, it feels like a more action-oriented movie and less than the horror. But, nonetheless, ‘Forever Purge’ is an exciting, effective movie that serves as a decent conclusion to the franchise.

‘The Forever Purge’ is written and produced by ‘Purge’ creator James DeMonaco and directed by Everado Gout.

In May 2019, Universal announced development of a fifth ‘Purge’ movie based on an idea the creator, James DeMonaco, had the previous year. Production began in November 2019 and wrapped in February 2020.

‘The Forever Purge’ is rated R for strong/bloody violence, and language throughout and has a running time of 103 minutes.
