‘Four Good Days’ A Surprising Emotional Journey

In this emotional journey based on a true story and an article by Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Eli Saslow, 31 year old Molly begs her estranged mother Deb for help fighting a fierce battle against the demons that have derailed her life.

Despite all she has learned over a decade of disappointment, Deb throws herself into one last attempt to save her beloved daughter from the deadly and merciless grip of heroin addiction.

With powerhouse performances from Glenn Close and Mila Kunis anchor director Rodrigo Garcia’s poignant and unpredictable chronicle of mother and daughter fighting to regain the love and trust that once held them together.

‘Four Good Days’ is a remarkable feature film that delivers amazing performances and lots of emotion. The film is incredibly well-done and tackles a serious topic of addiction that is sadly still going on everywhere.

The drama delivers a lot of emotion, which can be both heart-breaking, yet also heart-felt at the same time. The journey that the two main characters go through is very compelling and also complex and touching. Deb (the mother) shows that even though she has been burned numerous times by her addict daughter, she still cares for her and will give one last chance to help her get better.

Both Glenn Close and Mila Kunis give riveting performances. Kunis really nails it during a scene where her character speaks to a classroom full of students about addiction. In that particular scene, Molly (the daughter) releases a lot of emotion and it’s extremely moving since then Deb feels there’s actually hope for her daughter.

So, during the Summer Film Festival, do take the time and check out ‘Four Good Days.’ The film can be tough to watch at times, especially if you or someone you know went through addiction. But, this feature film is really moving and shouldn’t be missed.

‘Four Good Days’ is written by Eli Saslow and Rodrigo Garcia and also directed by Garcia (Albert Nobbs).

The film is based on a true story and a “Washington Post” article entitled ‘How’s Amanda? A Story of Truth Lies and an American Addiction’ written by Eli Saslow, who is also the film’s co-screenwriter. The story is inspired by Amanda Wendler and Libby Alexander, the real mother and daughter that are portrayed in the film and inspired the article.

The film had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on January 25, 2020. In March 2021, Vertical Entertainment acquired U.S. distribution rights to the film, and set it for an April 30, 2021 limited release prior to a May 21, 2021 VOD release.

‘Four Good Days’ is rated R for drug content, language throughout and brief sexuality and has a running time of 100 minutes.
