In the extremely hilarious 20th Century Studios presentation of ‘Free Guy,’ when a bank teller discovers he’s actually a background player in an open-world video game, he decides to become the hero of his own story — one that he can rewrite himself.

In a world where there’s no limits, he’s determined to save the day his way before it’s too late, and maybe find a little romance with the coder who he’s somehow been talking to.

‘Free Guy’ is, without a doubt, one of the funniest comedies I have recently seen! This must-watch comedy is an absolute blast and keeps the laughs going, even when you do not expect them.

The video game comedy also has some incredible action sequences that are both visually entertaining, and, at times, a little humorous. ‘Free Guy’ also features a few moments that can actually be truly heart-warming.

Ryan Reynolds, as always, is extremely hilarious. In almost all of his scenes, it’s guaranteed that he will make you laugh. There are also quite a few hidden cameos scattered throughout the movie (including someone who has starred in some Marvel movies). See if you can find all the cameos!

So, definitely make sure to check out this hilarious comedy at the Dietrich! It is surely one of those comedies that will really surprise you and will give you a really good laugh!

The cast: Ryan Reynolds (Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard) as Guy; Jodie Comer (AMCs Killing Eve) as Millie/Molotovgirl; Lil Rey Howery (Space Jam: A New Legacy) as Buddy; Joe Kerry (Molly’s Game; Netflix’s Stranger Things) as Keys; Utkarsh Ambudker (The Broken Hearts Gallery) as Mouser; Britne Oldford as Barista and Taika Waititi (The Suicide Squad) as Antwan, alongside quite a few cameos.

‘Free Guy’ is written by Matt Lieberman (The Christmas Chronicles movies; Scoob!) and Zak Penn (Ready Player One) and directed by Shawn Levy (This Is Where I Leave You; Night at the Museum: Secrets of the Tomb; a few episodes of Stranger Things).

In August 2016, screenwriter Matt Lieberman spent a few weeks writing the first draft of the script. After it was completed, the screenplay was sold and put into development at 20th Century Fox prior to its Disney acquisition.

The fictional “Free City” is based on Liberty City from ‘Grand Theft Auto III’ and ‘Grand Theft Auto IV.’ ‘Free Guy’ is also the first film during the pandemic from Disney/20th Century Studios released exclusively to theaters for 45 days before releasing on streaming services. There are already early discussions for a sequel.

The Ryan Reynolds comedy received a lot of great reviews and lots of positive word of mouth.

‘Free Guy’ is rated PG-13 for strong fantasy violence throughout, language and crude/suggestive references and has a running time of 115 minutes.
