Plot: Now that Chris and his girlfriend, Rose, have reached the meet-the-parents milestone of dating, she invites him for a weekend getaway with Missy and Dead. At first, Chris reads the overly accommodating behavior as nervous attempts to deal with their daughter’s interracial relationship, but as the weekend progresses, a series of increasingly disturbing discoveries leads him to a truth that he never could have imagined.

The 2017 horror-mystery ‘Get Out’ is definitely one of the most suspenseful and unique films in the genre. This feature delivers some very unexpected jump scares and the film’s ominous soundtrack really gives it a creepy vibe.

‘Get Out’ also delivers quite a few surprises and the ending is something that you won’t see coming. The conclusion is really interesting and very entertaining.

The movie can be a little slow building at times. But, it's a refreshing story and the chills that it offers is really worth the watch. So, make sure to rent ‘Get Out’ on the various rental platforms that it’s available at: YouTube, Google Play, Apple TV, VuduFandango and Amazon Prime.

Here are some interesting tidbits about ‘Get Out’:

• Daniel Kaluuya was given the lead role on the spot after nailing his audition. Writer, co-producer and director Jordan Peele said Kaluuya did about five takes of a key scene, which his character needs to cry, and each was so perfect that the single tear came down at the exact same time for each take.

• Due to the success of this film, Peele became the first African-American writer, producer and director to earn more than $100 million in a debut film.

• This film stayed in the US box office top 10 for its first two months of release.

• Peele cited 1968s ‘Night of the Living Dead’ as an inspiration for making this his feature film debut because the film had an African American protagonist.

• 2017 became the first year ever that the horror genre reached $1 billion in ticket sales at the US box office thanks to this film, ‘It,’ ‘Split,’ ‘Annabelle: Creation,’ ‘Jigsaw,’ ‘It Comes at Night’ and ‘Happy Death Day.’

• It recouped more than seven times it’s $4.5 million budget in its first weekend.

• Peele cited horror classics like ‘Night of the Living Dead,’ ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ and ‘The Stepford Wives’ as inspirations for creating this film.

• Despite tremendous critical acclaim, the film had proven to be divisive for older Oscar voters. Some dismissed it while others claimed that it was problematic due to the racial themes. A younger Oscar voter had to convince some of them to watch and actually access the film.

• This film inspired the creation of college courses about the film’s racial themes and symbolism.

• ‘Get Out’ grossed $176 million domestically and $79.4 million in other territories for a worldwide gross of $255.5 million, against a production budget of $4.5 million.

• ‘Deadline Hollywood’ calculated the net profit of the film to be $124.8 million, when factoring together all expenses and revenues, making it the tenth most profitable release of 2017.
