Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of action and violence, some disturbing images and language (96 min)

Last night I had the chance to finally check out the 2007 movie 'Ghost Rider.' Now, even though the first movie had its flaws, I thought it was still fairly entertaining and not as bad as I thought it would be. Well, then I moved on to the widely panned sequel, 'Spirit of Vengeance,' and it could have been A LOT better!

Alright, so this is gonna be a short take. The action scenes are actually really good and some of the visual effects are okay. A good chunk of the movie doesn't have a lot of exciting moments at all. The visual effects of the Ghost Rider has been slightly upgraded and looks cool. Cage's acting in a few scenes is worse than some of his scenes in the previous movie.

If you want to check the sequel out, it's available on the Starz add-on wherever it's available, along with various rental platforms.

Here are a few interesting tidbits for 'Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance':

  • After the movie, the live action rights went back to Marvel Studios.

  • Eva Mendes turned down the option to reprise her role.

  • Apparently, Peter Fonda was offered to come back in this movie but after reading the first five pages of the script he flat out refused. Good choice lol

  • Originally intended to be a dark and violent R-rated adaptation that would've fixed much of what fans disliked about the first installment but Sony got cold feet about the idea and instead wanted to go for a more marketing friendly PG-13 rating. An R-rating could have definitely helped the sequel out.

  • Marvel producer Avi Arad announced the development of 'Ghost Rider 2' in February 2007 at a press event.

  • The movie opened at No. 3 in North America with a $22.1 million opening weekend, behind 'Safe House', which moved to No. 1 on its second weekend.

  • It went on to gross $51 million at the US box office and $80.8 million internationally, for a worldwide total of $132.6 million.
