The other night I finally had the chance to check out Good Burger 2, the straight to streaming sequel to the 1997 movie. Ever since the first movie was released and was seen over and over and over again on TV, fans of the original movie have been wanting a sequel. And, after a very long wait, the sequel is finally here!
Let's just say that if you liked the 1997 Good Burger movie, there's a good chance you'll have a good time watching this funny sequel. Good Burger 2 delivers the silly fun that you'd expect. One thing that was really funny is seeing Ed having a bunch of kids (named after condiments - except for Ed 2) and they're all dressed like Ed.
Some of the gags did get a little too silly but I was expecting that and it was also cool to see Kenan and Kel appear together on the screen again. Good Burger 2 can give you a bit of a nostalgic feel, especially when you see some throw backs from the first movie, including bringing back the "We're All Dudes" song. Just like the first movie, there are also some fun cameos scattered throughout!
Good Burger 2, along with the 1997 movie, can be streamed on Paramount Plus!!
Here are some fun tidbits for Good Burger 2!!!
Sinbad, who voices the business manager, played Dexter's teacher Mr. Wheat in the first film.
Many cast members of Saturday Night Live outside of Thompson make appearances, including Pete Davidson, Ego Nwodim, Andy Samberg, Maya Rudolph, Bowen Yang, Mikey Day, Molly Kearney, Leslie Jones, and Michael Longfellow.
An original sequel to Good Burger (1997) had already been made but was in book form. Titled "Good Burger 2 Go", published in 1998, it follows Ed and Dexter trying to license Ed's Sauce to sell. Unfortunately, a big pot of Ed's Sauce is empty and Ed isn't available to make more due to the fact that he's trying to track down a customer to return 18 cents in change to that customer. Determined to return the change, he follows the customer around the world and ends up getting mixed up in a kidnapping plot in Paris, all the while Dexter is trying to track him down.
Debuted as the most-watched Paramount+ original film, surpassing Pet Sematary: Bloodlines (2023).
Released 26 years after the first film.
This movie is dedicated to the people who were in the original movie and part of Nickelodeon, that have died Abe Vigoda, Ron Lester, Irish Grinstead and Coolio.
