Plot: Upset about moving from the big city to a small town, young Zach Cooper finds a silver lining when he meets his beautiful neighbor Hannah. The teen is surprised to learn that Hannah's mysterious father is R.L. Stine, the famous author of the best-selling Goosebumps series. When Zach accidentally unleashes the monsters from the fantastic tales, it's up to Stine, his daughter and Cooper to return the beasts back to the books where they belong.

A few nights ago, I took a look at the 2015 movie Goosebumps (available on Netflix). I haven't seen this since I reviewed it for the Examiner when it was first released. So, I figured this would be a nice little addition for my spooky season marathon!
The 2015 Goosebumps movie is a funny little movie that anyone in all age groups will easily enjoy! All of the monsters from the infamous book series are present in the movie and if you loved the books, I think you'll like the movie.
Jack Black is awesome (as always) as Stine and the visual look of the monsters are really cool looking. There are a couple elements that may be a little scary for the younger audiences, but really nothing too major. Goosebumps also has a great blend of little scares and humor. The movie also has a few small twists and turns you won't see coming!!

Mr. Stine makes the comment that he has sold more books than author Stephen King. Surprisingly, this line of the movie is true. King has sold over 350 million books, and Stine has sold over 400 million books.
The real R.L. Stine commended the filmmakers for allowing him to read the script and make suggestions.
Stine observed that one of the major hurdles in getting a Goosebumps movie made was having too many books to choose for adaptation, and that it was a masterstroke of this movie to include all of the characters in an original story.
Tim Burton was originally attached to produce the movie in 1998, but the project fell through.
During the 1990s, George A. Romero was hired to adapt the book series into a single movie and even finished a draft.
In 2008, Columbia Pictures acquired rights to create a Goosebumps movie. Neal Moritz and Deborah Forte, the latter of whom had previously worked on the Goosebumps TV show in the 90s, were chosen to produce the movie.
Goosebumps grossed $80.1 million in North America and $70.1 million in other territories for a worldwide total of $150.2 million, against a budget of $58 million.
A sequel, Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween, was released in the US on October 12, 2018.
On April 28, 2020, it was announced that a reboot live action TV series was in the works. In February 2022, it was announced that the series will be heading to Disney Plus.
