‘Grinch’ An Enjoyable Holiday Favorite

Over the years, there have been several versions of the beloved ‘Grinch’ tale. There is the 1966 TV special of ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’ that everyone of all ages have watched numerous times over the years. In fact, I watch the 1966 version every holiday season, and FYI, it’s available to stream on Peacock.
There is also the 2018 animated version that ultimately became a decent holiday hit. And, there is the version that I checked out that will also be showing at the 12 Movies of Christmas festival. This one is the popular 2000 version starring Jim Carrey, which became a modern holiday classic since it was initially released.
In this live-action adaptation of the beloved children’s tale by Dr. Seuss, the reclusive green Grinch decides to ruin Christmas for the cheery citizens of Whoville.
Reluctantly joined by his hapless dog, Max, the Grinch comes down from his mountaintop home and sneaks into town to swipe everything holiday-related from the Whos.
However, the bitter grump finds a hitch in his plans when he encounters the endearing Cindy Lou Who.
The live-action adaptation is still very entertaining and humorous after all these years. I’m still wrapping my head around the fact that this version is 22 years old!
This remake of ‘The Grinch’ is loads of fun and is a festive delight. After watching Jim Carrey’s performance year after year as the Grinch, I honestly can’t see anyone else who would portray the Grinch as well as he did. His slapstick comedy works perfectly for this movie and Carrey does an amazing job with the Grinch’s emotional side towards the end of the movie.
The set designs and costumes are really awesome and everyone who appeared in the movie also did a fine job. Throughout the movie, there are quite a few humorous gags and jokes for both kids and their parents.
‘Grinch’ also has some very heart-warming moments throughout the movie. Even though the movie received mixed reactions when it was initially released, it has gotten a good following over the years and is typically one that a lot of people watch every holiday season. So. when the Christmas festival starts up, make sure to check out this holiday favorite again on the big screen!

‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’ is written by writers Jeffrey Price and Peter S. Seaman (Shrek the Third; Doc Hollywood; Who Framed Roger Rabbit) and directed by Ron Howard (Thirteen Lives; Hillbilly Elegy).
‘Grinch’ is rated PG for some crude humor and has a running time of 104 minutes.
The show dates and times for ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas during the 12 Movies of Christmas festival are as follows: Saturday Dec. 3 at 1 pm; Thursday Dec. 8 at 7 pm; Monday Dec. 12 at 4 pm and Thursday Dec. 15 at 1 pm.
