*** UPDATED QUICK TAKE! I decided to check out Jeepers Creepers: Reborn. I always knew the series was in decline after seeing the third movie, which I barely remember. While I was working on my 2023 Halloween line up, I kept asking myself whether to give this sequel/reboot/whatever it is another shot. So I did ... and it's just as bad as when I first watched it. Definitely a sequel/reboot to skip!***

Throughout the years, I have watched the 'Jeepers Creepers' movies. They were decent scary movies featuring a memorable monster (the Creeper) and a lot of suspense. Well, maybe not 'Jeepers Creepers 3.' That sequel just wasn't really good.

When I saw that the franchise was getting a fresh start, I became optimistic. All good series, horror or not, go through fresh starts and reboots. Then, I saw the trailer and read what everyone thought of 'Reborn.' After that, I became less optimistic. Not just from what everyone was saying about the movie, but the trailer just sucked! But, despite the terrible trailer and the negative reactions to the movie, I still kept an open mind and kept thinking - "there's no way this could be THAT bad" ... well, it was!

The scares were very lackluster and they changed the lore of the Creeper - which is fine since it's a reboot. When viewing the movie, you can tell that the movie's budget had to have been really really cheap. If you look closely, the backgrounds are mainly green-screen/CGI and bad CGI at that. 'Reborn' really reminds me of the terrible movies you see on the SyFy Channel - only worse!

Here are a few interesting tidbits that might be more entertaining than 'Jeepers Creepers: Reborn':

  • The actors Justin Long (Darry in Jeepers Creepers) and Ray Wise (Jack Taggart Sr. in Jeepers Creepers 2) were invited to have a special participation but an agreement was never reached with either of them. They probably thought it was gonna be terrible. Good call!

  • Victor Salva had already written his svript for a fourth movie and was expected to return with original star Gina Phillips (Trish Jenner) as the lead after her brief appearance in 'Jeepers Creepers III.'

  • An international co-production between the UK, the US and Finland. Principal photography commenced for three days in Jackson, Louisiana, on location and at Orwo Studios. Soon after, the production was moved to the UK.

  • The movie's title was officially confirmed as 'Jeepers Creepers: Reborn' in February 2021, when Screen Media Films acquired worldwide distribution rights, after previously releasing the third movie.

  • 'Reborn' was released in select theaters in the US from September 19 - 21, 2022, in partnership with Fathom Events.

  • On March 16, 2021, Myriad Pictures, the production company behind the first two sequels, filed a property fraud lawsuit against Infinity Films Holdings, one of the film's production companies, for producing the film without Myriad's "knowledge or involvement" and selling the distribution rights to Screen Media Films.
