‘Jungle Cruise’ a fun, family voyage

‘Jungle Cruise,’ formally known as Jungle River Cruise, is a riverboat amusement ride located in the Adventureland themed section at various Disney theme parks worldwide. The attraction is a simulated riverboat cruise that travels along a waterway using a concealed guidance system through areas with Asian, African and South American themes.

And, just like the extremely popular ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ theme ride, the Jungle Cruise ride had also received the film treatment. So, come on down to the Dietrich and see this entertaining adventure on the big screen!

Join everyone for the adventure of a lifetime on Disney’s ‘Jungle Cruise,’ a rollicking thrill-ride down the Amazon with wisecracking skipper Frank Wolff and intrepid researcher Dr. Lily Houghton. Lily travels from London to the Amazon jungle and enlists Frank’s questionable services to guide her downriver on La Quila — his ramshackle boat.

Lily is determined to uncover an ancient tree with unparalleled healing abilities — possessing the power to change the future of medicine. Thrust on this epic quest together, the unlikely duo encounters innumerable dangers and supernatural forces, all lurking in the deceptive beauty of a lush rainforest.

‘Jungle Cruise’ is an extremely enjoyable family adventure that does an incredible job entertaining you right until the very end. The Disney flick delivers some great action moments and loads of fun.

The big screen ride features several adventure-filled moments that are visually outstanding. Even though there are quite a few visually stunning moments, the movie did over-do the CGI a tiny bit.

‘Jungle Cruise’ also features some hilarious moments between Emily Blunt and Dwayne Johnson. Both the actors have great chemistry together and there are some moments that feature Johnson’s Skipper character that will really make you laugh — even a few of his corny jokes in the beginning.

So, have a little family day or night and check out ‘Jungle Cruise’ on the big screen. Filled with great action, some humorous moments and a great time, this cinematic theme ride really delivers.

‘Jungle Cruise’ is written by Michael Green (The Call of the Wild; Logan), Glenn Ficarra (Smallfoot) and John Requa (Smallfoot), and directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (The Commuter; The Shallows; Non-Stop).

A ‘Jungle Cruise’ film adaptation has been in development for years. It was briefly put in development around September 2004 and really didn’t pick up traction until August 2015 due to going through various versions of the story.

‘Jungle Cruise’ had its world premiere at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, Calif. on July 24. There are currently rumblings of a potential sequel.

The Disney adventure feature earned decent reviews from critics and has grossed an estimated $65.3 million domestically (as of Aug. 8).

‘Jungle Cruise’ is rated PG-13 for sequences of adventure violence and has a running time of 127 minutes.
