Plot: In this action-comedy, unusual circumstances find big, brawny cop John Kimble posing as a kindergarten teacher in order to apprehend major drug dealer Cullen Crisp, as well as his ruthless accomplice and mother, Eleanor. While pretending to be a kid-friendly instructor, Kimble falls for pretty fellow teacher Joyce Palmieri as he battles both unruly children and dangerous bad guys.

‘Kindergarten Cop’ is a hilarious and, oftentimes, entertaining movie. This is one of the few comedies that the ‘Terminator’ has worked on and does a great job.
There are a few violent parts in the movie, But, overall, there are also quite a few fun moments and lots of humor that come into play once the Kimble character begins going undercover at the school.
This 1990 movie does have a bit of everything. At times, it can be a serious cop drama and at times, it can also be a warm-hearted comedy. Regardless, ‘Kindergarten Cop’ is a fun movie for just about everyone!

Here are a few interesting tidbits for ‘Kindergarten Cop’:
Director Ivan Reitman invented the five “Reitman Rules of Filmmaking” for the kids: Listen, act natural, know your character, don’t look in the camera, and be disciplined.
During an off day from filming, Schwarzenegger flew to LA to film the teaser trailer for ‘Terminator 2.’
Filmmakers recruited local Astoria kids to be extras in the school.
Astoria Elementary, the school in the movie, is actually just a few blocks from the ‘Goonies’ house.
The script for ‘Kindergarten Cop’ appealed to Schwarzenegger after he became a father in 1989.
Bill Murray and Patrick Swayze were originally offered the John Kimble role.
‘Kindergarten Cop’ was postponed until Christmas 1990 because Ivan Reitman was still working on ‘Ghostbusters II’ for Christmas 1989.
The movie grossed $91.4 million domestically, $110.5 million in other territories, and $202 million worldwide.
A direct to DVD sequel was released in May 2016 and starred Dolph Lundgren in a different role.
