Plot: Major Benson Payne lives, breathes and sleeps war. But after being honorably discharged from the Marines due to the lack of wars, Payne, the natural-born killer has absolutely no idea how to cope in everyday civilian life. Fortunately, before he completely breaks down, Payne finds his way back into a military capacity at Madison Preparatory School, leading a group of misfit JROTC students who don’t want to be led. ‘Major Payne’ is, without a doubt, one of the most underrated comedies out there. The general reviews for the 1995 comedy have been on the mixed/negative side. But, it’s definitely one of those movies that are critic-proof.

There are numerous moments that will make you bust a gut laughing. Damon Wayans is downright hilarious as the lead character, Major Payne. All of the one-liners he says during the movie are really hysterical!

So, if you’re looking for a really hysterical comedy, I really suggest you check out ‘Major Payne.’ There’s not a moment in the movie that won’t make you laugh or chuckle.

  • Loose remake of the 1955 movie ‘The Private War of Major Benson.’

  • In one scene, Major Payne tells the children, “Now apparently, what we have here, is a failure to communicate!” This is a famous quote from the film ‘Cool Hand Luke.’

  • The movie debuted at No. 2 at the US box office behind ‘Outbreak’ with a gross of $7 million in its opening weekend. ‘Major Payne’ went on to gross $30.1 million worldwide.
