'Moonfall' a visually interesting sci-fi flick

When you see the name Roland Emmerich in the credits, you know that there are going to be a lot of sci-fi destruction. Mainly known for sci-fi flicks, such as ‘Stargate,’ ‘Independence Day,’ ‘2012’ and more, Emmerich knows how to entertain audiences with his sci-fi action scenes.

Now, the director is back to do what he does best with ‘Moonfall.’

In the sci-fi action feature ‘Moonfall,’ a mysterious force knocks the Moon from its orbit around Earth and sends it hurtling on a collision course with life as we know it.

With mere weeks before impact and the world on the brink of annihilation, NASA executive and former astronaut Jo Fowler is convinced she has the key to saving us all — but only one astronaut from her past, Brian Harper, and a conspiracy theorist K.C. Houseman believes her These unlikely heroes will go on a last-ditch mission into space, leaving behind everyone they love, only to find out that our Moon may not be what we think it is.

‘Moonfall’ is an interesting sci- movie that has some great action-packed sequences. The latest “end of the world” movie from director Roland Emmerich delivers some incredible action that is visually astounding.

The concept of the movie is very interesting and slightly different. Instead of a typical comet or asteroid heading to Earth, it’s our very own Moon. Once the Moon gets closer to the planet, that’s where the destruction comes in and there’s a lot of it. The destruction scenes can be entertaining and will leave you at the very edge of your seat. The amazing visual effects also helps with the action/destruction sequences as well.

The last half hour or so of the movie takes you by surprise and is one of the most intriguing parts of ‘Moonfall.’ The movie is just like the typical “end of the world” movie. But, it does a good job keeping you entertained and glued to the screen.

In May 2019, it was announced that Emmerich would be writing and directing the sci-fi movie. The idea came from reading ‘Who Built the Moon?,’ written by conspiracy theorists Christopher Knight and Alan Butler.

Last month, Emmerich stated that if the movie is a success, the director has ideas for follow ups.

‘Moonfall’ is rated PG-13 for violence, disaster action, strong language and some drug use and has a running time of 130 minutes.
