Almost all movies starring the one and only - the late great Robin Williams - will make you just smile and burst out with laughter. And, one of his funniest and most touching film is the hilarious 1993 comedy ‘Mrs. Doubtfire.’

There are numerous moments scattered throughout that will really make you laugh. ‘Doubtfire’ also has a very sweet story that features children going through the early stages of their parents divorce. All of the scenes that feature the kids with Mrs. Doubtfire/Daniel can be both humorous and endearing.

In between all of the gut-busting laughs, there are also some moments that can be quite moving and emotional. The whole movie is very entertaining and is a great pick for a nice family movie night.

FYI - ‘Mrs. Doubtfire’ is THIRTY years old!!!

Here are some interesting tidbits about ‘Mrs. Doubtfire’:

• According to one biography, Robin Williams decided to test out the believability of his Doubtfire character during filming by going, as Doubtfire, into an adult bookstore and making a purchase. He was able to do so without being recognized.

• During the scene where Mrs. Sellner comes to inspect Daniel’s apartment and Daniel Doubtfire is serving her tea, the icing on the face is melting off. This wasn’t intentional. The heat from the lights melted the icing on his face and Williams improvised the bulk of that scene.

• Chris Columbus would use two or three cameras at a time shooting Williams’ scenes, uncertain of what the famously improvisational actor would come up with. Columbus viewed shooting these scenes as if he were making a documentary.

• According to Columbus, Williams improvised so much that there were PG, PG-13, R and NC-17 edits of the film (though always intended to be released as PG-13).

• During the restaurant scene where Doubtfire’s teeth fell into the wine glass, the cast didn’t know Williams would do that, and their reactions on film were genuine, mirroring the shock of the crew.

• The film was originally supposed to be much darker, showing the toll a divorce can take on the children. It was initially decided to make the film more family friendly, and some of the more dramatic scenes were cut.

• After Williams’ death, a lot of fans of this movie and his career flocked to the real address of the house and set up a memorial.

• The second highest grossing film of 1993, just behind ‘Jurassic Park.’

• The film earned $219,195,243 in the US and Canada, and $222,090,952 in other countries, for a worldwide total of $441,286,193, making it Fox’s highest grossing film internationally at the time.

• There was, in fact, a sequel in development that was eventually cancelled. Since 2001, a sequel began early development and really didn’t get anywhere. After his untimely death in 2014, the sequel permanently got cancelled.
