MY SUMMER FILM FESTIVAL PICKS - TRIVIA!!!!

In this post, I will have a few fun little tidbits from the films that I have checked out for the Examiner during the Summer Film Festival: Colewell, To Olivia and The Phantom of the Open!!

Filming locations include Noxen and Tunkhannock!!
Premiered at the San Francisco International Film Festival on April 13, 2019.
At the 35th Independent Spirit Awards, Allen was nominated for Best Female Lead and the film was nominated for the Independent Spirit John Cassavetes Award.

Maurice Flitcroft used to practice his golf on the playing fields of the local grammar school as he was banned from all golf courses in the area.
Flitcroft was in his mid 40s when the events of this film took place, making him 15 years younger than Mark Rylance, the actor who portrays him.
Flitcroft passed away in 2007 aged 77.
In May 2020, it was announced Craig Roberts would direct the film, from a screenplay by Simon Farnaby based upon his autobiographical book 'The Phantom of the Open: Maurice Flitcroft, The World's Worst Golfer.' Flitcroft's son, James, was used as a consultant.
Principal photography began in October 2020.
In July 2021, Sony Pictures Classics acquired the North American rights to the film.
World premiere at the 65th BFI London Film Festival on October 12, 2021

Geoffrey Palmer's final film. He died between filming and the release of the project.
Rebecca Ferguson (Dune; Doctor Sleep) was originally cast but dropped out due to scheduling conflicts. Keely Hawes replaced her.
It's based on Stephen Michael Shearer's biography titled 'An Unquiet Life.'
Bonneville was cast as Dahl in May 2017. Hawes was cast as Neal in November 2019.
Principal photography began in Surrey on November 14, 2019. Palmer died in November 2020, but had completed all his scheduled scenes prior to his death.
The film was released in the UK via Sky Cinema on February 19, 2021. In February 2022, it was announced that Vertical Entertainment acquired North American distribution rights to the film, which was released in the US on April 13, 2022.
