Plot: Long before meeting Shrek, Puss in Boots - just named a hero for saving a woman from a charging bull - is run out of town on suspicion of bank robbery, even though the real villain is Puss' friend, Humpty Dumpty. Though there is still animosity between them, Puss and Humpty reunite to steal a goose that lays golden eggs. Joining them for the adventure of nine lifetimes is notorious cat burglar, Kitty Softpaws.

The fan favorite character Puss in Boots was first introduced in the 2004 sequel, 'Shrek 2' (which I think is the best of the sequels). So, to get ready for 'Puss in Boots: The Last Wish' (a great sequel BTW), I decided to give the 2011 movie another look.

'Puss in Boots' is filled with great fun and some really cool action moments. Seeing this character's origin story was really great and this is probably one of DreamWorks Animation's best movies to date!

The 2011 movie delivers a lot of great adventure-filled moments as well and is a fun watch for children and their parents.

'Puss in Boots' is currently available on the Peacock streaming service and make sure to catch his next adventure 'The Last Wish' now playing!

Here are a few fun tidbits for 'Puss in Boots':

• A conscious decision was made to make the world of 'Puss in Boots' very different from that depicted in the 'Shrek' movies. In the latter, the backgrounds and styles are very fairy tale. Here, it has a distinctly Spanish feel with warmer, more orange colors.

• Unlike the 'Shrek' movies,' which were in production for only three years each (except for the first which was in production for 4.5 to 5 years), 'Puss in Boots' was in production for 7.5 years. This movie entered production in 2004, just after the release of 'Shrek 2.'

• 'Puss in Boots' alludes heavily to 'The Mask of Zorro,' a film which also starred Banderas as the lead.

• This movie was originally planned to be direct to DVD, but was moved to be released theatrically since it would've been odd of DreamWorks Animation to not have all their films consistently released theatrically.

• Chris Miller, who work as head of story in 'Shrek 2,' was a big proponent of making a spin-off movie centered on Puss in Boots due to his love of the character and the intriguing story potential he had, given the adventures he mentions to had had in the movie.

• The spin-off grossed $149.3 million in North America and $405.7 million in other countries, for a worldwide total of $555 million. It was the 11th highest-grossing movie of 2011 and is also the third highest-grossing animated movie that year behind 'Kung Fu Panda 2' and 'Cars 2.'

• The movie spawned an animated series that premiered on Netflix on January 16, 2015 and a sequel just released in theaters.
