‘Quantumania’ a visually awesome fun adventure

When we were first introduced to Scott Lang, a.k.a. Ant-Man, he went from being a small-time crook to eventually becoming a superhero and Avenger. Over the years, Ant-Man spent a bit of time trapped in the mysterious Quantum Realm and eventually helped save the world after half of the population vanished.

Now, we get to see what Ant-Man has been up to since the world was saved as he unknowingly comes closer to meeting one of the biggest enemies any of the heroes would ever meet in ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.’ Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne return to continue their adventures as Ant-Man and the Wasp. Together, with Hope’s parents Janet Van Dyne and Hank Pym, and Scott’s daughter Cassie Lang, the family find themselves exploring the Quantum Realm, interacting with strange new creatures and embarking on an adventure that will push them beyond the limits of what they thought possible.

‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ is a highly entertaining entry of the ever-growing Marvel Cinematic Universe that delivers a lot of visually stunning sequences and a good start for the next phase of the MCU.

Even though Ant Man and the Wasp are the main characters of the movie, the new MCU villain, Kang the Conqueror, definitely steals the show. First introduced as a variant (or another version) of the character in the Disney Plus series ‘Loki,’ this version of the character shows how ruthless and cunning he can be and Jonathan Majors does an awesome job as the next big bad of the current MCU phase. Over time, I can’t wait to see what this character (or other versions of the character) does down the road. The Quantum Realm scenes are visually incredible. Several of those sequences introduce us to some memorable characters and whole new worlds throughout the Realm. Also in the Realm, we get to meet someone that was close to Janet while she was stuck in the Realm years ago, played by the always entertaining Bill Murray.

And, while on the topic of the Quantum Realm, let’s give a quick shout out to the secondary villain — M.O.D.O.K. The other villain can also be quite compelling at times and you may have seen him before … not going into spoiler territory. Sure, the character’s design is kind of weird and silly looking yet when you see the design of the character in the actual comics, the live-action version would be silly looking no matter what the filmmakers did. So, ‘Quantumania’ does a great job starting up the latest MCU phase of projects. The movie also focuses a bit too much on world-building and crams a lot into one movie, yet it still works just fine. Like the previous ‘Ant-Man’ movies, this movie can be hilarious at times. It can get a little silly, but not as silly as ‘Love and Thunder.’ And, like usual, stick around for a couple post-credit scenes that are actually important to what’s to come in the next phase of projects.

‘Quantumania’ is written by Jeff Loveness (who has written some episodes of ‘Rick and Morty’) and directed by Peyton Reed (Ant-Man series; Yes Man; The Break-Up).

‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ is rated PG-13 for violence/action, and language, and has a running time of 125 minutes.
