The Comedic ‘Big Lebowski’ Showing at Upcoming Film Festival

‘The Big Lebowski’ is one of the festival’s featured “come back classic” films. The film shows on Friday, September 30 at 9 pm and Sunday, October 2 at 7:15 pm.
In 1998, the Coen brothers released a little film that first received mixed reviews when it was initially released. Over the years, this film has garnered more positive reactions and ultimately became a well-loved cult classic. And, the film I’m talking about is the one and only ‘The Big Lebowski.’
Jeff Lebowski, who insists on being called “The Dude,’ is a laid-back easy going burnout who happens to have the same name as a millionaire whose wife owes a lot of dangerous people a whole bunch of money - resulting in the Dude having his rug soiled, sending him into the Los Angeles underworld.
The Coen brothers have directed and written some amazing films over the years. And, ‘The Big Lebowski’ is one of the best films they have ever put together. The 1998 cult classic delivers a lot of comedic moments and a simple, entertaining story.
Jeff Bridges gives one of his best performances in his career as the laid back Lebowski. Bridges can be awfully hilarious in most of his scenes and Lebowski is one of the most memorable and iconic characters ever created. Honestly, after having seen the film many times, I can’t see anyone else playing Lebowski.
The film also has a memorable cast and everyone in the film is great! John Goodman definitely steals the show as the Dude’s friend who can snap from time to time in a hilarious fashion. And, of course, the one and only Sam Eillot in a brief, yet memorable role as The Stranger.
‘The Big Lebowski’ has quite a few moments that are simply hysterical and is one of the most quotable films out there. It also features some awesome music scattered throughout and is one of those films that you can watch over and over again and will still enjoy every minute of it. Also, Lebowski’s “dream sequences” that are featured in the film can be a tad weird, yet still quite entertaining and humorous.
So, during the upcoming Fall FIlm Festival, do make sure to check out this comedic classic on the big screen. ‘The Big Lebowski’ is one of the Coen brothers' best and is not to be missed!

‘Lebowski’ is written, produced and directed by the Coen brothers, who also worked on ‘True Grit,’ ‘Fargo,’ ‘No Country for Old Men’ and ‘The Tragedy of Macbeth’ (Joel Coen only), among many others.
The 1998 cult classic held its world premiere at the 1998 Sundance Film Festival on January 18, 1998 and also screened at the 38th Berlin International Film Festival before opening domestically in 1,207 theaters. Altogether, the film grossed $46.7 million ($18 million from the U.S. alone).
‘The Big Lebowski’ is rated R for pervasive strong language, drug content, sexuality and brief violence and has a running time of 117 minutes.
