Disney’s ‘The Mighty Ducks’ is definitely one of the “modern classics” that almost everyone had to have seen at least once in their childhood.

‘The Mighty Ducks’ is a very entertaining family feature that all families will surely enjoy! It delivers a lot of pleasing, light-hearted moments and quite a few moments that will make you laugh.

This classic 90s movie is truly a great one to see if the whole family wants to stream something. It has a lot of heart and some great hockey fun.

So, if you want to find a movie to watch for a family movie night, the 1992 classic ‘The Mighty Ducks’ is highly recommended and can be streamed on Disney Plus.

**FYI - ‘The Mighty Ducks’ is 28 years old!!! Feel old yet?!

Here are some interesting tidbits about ‘The Mighty Ducks’:

  • Jake Gyllenhaal, who was unknown at the time, auditioned for the role of Charlie Conway, but his parents wouldn’t let him do the movie so the producers ended up casting Joshua Jackson.

  • Charlie Sheen was offered the role of Gordon Bombay, but turned it down and later on his brother, Emilio Estevez, took the role.

  • When the Anaheim Mighty Ducks were added as an expansion team to the NHL, they were named after the movie because the team was owned by Disney. However, prior to the 2005-06 NHL season, the Ducks dropped “Mighty” from their name and are now known as the “Anaheim Ducks.”

  • Bill Murray was considered to play Gordon Bombay, but was deemed too old.

  • It was filmed in several locations in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

  • The film grossed $50.7 million in the US and Canada, becoming a surprising success with audiences, which in turn inspired two sequels and an animated TV series (the latter taking on a sci-fi angle with actual anthropomorphic ducks).
