Plot: Young lovers Walter and Anna are house-sitting the NYC apartment owned by Max, Anna's ex-husband, who suddenly decides to toss them out. Needing a new home, they settle on buying a country estate outside the city, which is available for a suspiciously low price. It soon becomes apparent why, as doors fall off their hinges, staircases come tumbling down and a bathtub falls through the floor. The couple's relationship suffers similarly.

From beginning to end, 'The Money Pit' will really make you laugh. There are numerous moments scattered throughout that might make you bust a gut laughing!

This comedy still holds up to this very day. Every time something goes wrong with the house, something hilarious always happens soon after. There are quite a few hysterical moments that really stand out. One part that's one of the favorites is when they're filling the tub with water and it just falls through the floor and shatters. After that, Walter (Hanks' character) just snaps and has this weird laugh that just makes the scene even funnier.

You can watch 'The Money Pit' over and over again and it will still be extremely funny. When Tom Hanks did comedies in the early part of his career, they were simply hilarious and some of the best comedies out there. There's 'Bachelor Party,' 'Turner & Hooch' (which I will be checking out again soon), 'The Burbs' (which I would look at once again but it's only available on Netflix and I don't have it) among others.

So, if you're looking for an 80s comedy with lots of of laughs, check out 'The Money Pit' which is available on the Peacock streaming platform and various VOD rental services as well!

Here are a couple little tidbits for 'The Money Pit':

• During breaks in filming, Hanks liked to drive around in the vintage Lincoln Model L Series classic car which is featured in the movie.

• The 'Money Pit' house, owned by the Ridder family in real life, was on the market to be sold when the movie was shooting.

• Co-owner of the house, Mrs. Ridder, was apparently absolutely shocked to see her home being semi-demolished. Reportedly, director Richard Benjamin persuaded her to appear in the movie's closing scenes after the house had been fully restored by the production.

• Grossed $37.4 million domestic - $17.5 international - $54.9 million worldwide total.
