Plot: The Turtles again battle their archenemy, the rogue ninja Shredder. Shredder attempts revenge by obtaining the same radioactive ooze that created the Turtles and unleashing two new monstrous mutants: Tooka, an over-sized snapping turtle, and Rahzr, a fearsome wold-like creature. When Shredder plans to use the remaining ooze on himself, the Turtles must harness their ninja fighting skills to stop him.

The Secret of the Ooze is the 1991 sequel that was quickly put together and was released roughly a year after the still awesome 1990 movie.

This sequel is a worthy follow up to the first movie and will easily keep you entertained. It's still funny at times, yet a little more cheesier. Secret of the Ooze is definitely lighter in tone and it's really noticeable. But, the lighter tone doesn't affect the fun you have watching this movie.

Some of the action bits can be on the really silly side, but kids will still love it. Everyone's favorite characters are back and when Shredder really briefly turns into Super Shredder it's really a cool moment and they should've extended that more. Having the Super Shredder sequence is a cool way to end the movie, but that part is only a few minutes. When I was a kid, I thought the Vanilla Ice cameo was kinda cool. Now, not so much lol.

Here are some fun tidbits for TMNT: The Secret of the Ooze!

• Ernie Reyes Jr. was Donatello's fight double in the 1990 movie. Producers liked Reyes so much, they created the role of Keno just for him to replace Casey Jones.

• Dedicated to the memory of Jim Henson.

• One main concern that Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird had was that the second (and ant subsequent) movie story as much away from the cartoon show, and as close to the original back and white comics as possible, as the first movie did. They felt that there was plenty of material in the comics to form the basis for another good movie.

• In the original comic story, the ooze was made by stranded aliens called the Utroms through a front company called TCRI (Techno Cosmic Research Institute). Since the final script didn't include the Utroms, the company was changed to TGRI (Techno-Global Research Institute).

• Originally, the studio wanted Bebop and Rocksteady from the 1987 cartoon, to appear. However, Laird and Eastman weren't in favor of it, so Tokka and Rahzar become so popular that they made an appearance in the cartoon in season 7.

• Due to the backlash from parents over the darker and more violent tone of the 1990 movie, the producers decided to not allow the Turtles to use their weapons for almost the entirety of this movie.

• Due to the massive success of the first movie, it was generally expected that a sequel would follow.

• Secret of the Ooze was released in theaters on March 22, 1991 in the US, and subsequently in other countries from June through August. The sequel was No. 1 in North America on its first weekend of release, taking in over $20 million, and eventually making $78.6 million in total, generating theatrical rentals of $41.9 million.
