The 1989 John Hughes/John Candy classic comedy ‘Uncle Buck’ is definitely one of the late comedian’s best comedic roles. And his roles/movies are hard to rank since most of them are so great and he’s great in all of them.

There are many moments in the movie that will really crack you up. The laughs really kick in as soon as the Uncle Buck character comes to watch over the kids. While watching this movie, I honestly can’t see anyone else playing the fun Uncle Buck.

‘Uncle Buck’ also features a few touching, heart-warming moments, especially when Buck becomes close with the kids and helps Tia towards the end of the movie.

So, if you’re looking for a fun little comedy and love John Candy, check out ‘Uncle Buck’ on Hulu through the Cinemax add-on!

FYI - Believe it or not, ‘Uncle Buck’ is 32 years old!!!

Here are some interesting tidbits about ‘Uncle Buck’:

• During Miles’ interrogation of Uncle Buck, John Candy wrote out the script’s dialogue, and wore it atop his head so Macauley Culkin could read the lines more quickly, and keep the pace of the scene very fast.

• One night during filming, John Candy went to a bar with music supervisor Tarquin Gotch, and spent most of the night there meeting people. The next day, John Hughes heard a caller on a radio talk show excitedly describe his evening with Candy. Hughes was upset with Candy, and despite Candy’s assertion that Buck was supposed to appear disheveled, Hughes cancelled his scenes for the day, and told him to get himself together and get some sleep.

• Despite their characters not getting along for a majority of the film, off-camera Jean Louise Kelly (Tia) got along very well with John Candy and said she was honored to work with who she considered a legend.

• Winona Ryder was the first choice for the role of Tia after Hughes had seen her in ‘Beetlejuice.’ But Ryder turned it down as she was busy working on ‘Heathers.’

• Danny DeVito, Dan Akyroyd, George Wendt, Michael Keaton and Ed O’Neill were considered for the role of Uncle Buck.

• Joe Pesci was also considered for the role of Buck, but turned it down to do ‘Lethal Weapon 2’ instead.
