Plot: Fun-loving salesmen Richard and Larry are invited by their boss, Bernie, to stay the weekend at his posh beach house. When the plan backfires and Bernie is killed instead, the buddies decide not to let a little death spoil their vacation. They pretend Bernie is still alive, leading to hi-jinks and corpse desecration galore.

'Weekend at Bernie's' is one of the most hilarious comedies to come out of the 1980s. There are a few laughs scattered throughout the first twenty minutes or so. The laughs really kick in once the two main characters, Larry and Richard, find Bernie in his home office dead.

The crazy shenanigans that ensues whey they try to make it look like Bernie is still alive around everyone is downright hysterical. The one scene that really stands out for me is when Larry and Richard are driving Bernie's boat and Bernie ends up falling overboard. And seeing Bernie bouncing around in the water and hitting a few things can easily make you laugh. Just that entire scene is simply hilarious!

In fact, there are quite a few moments that are laugh out loud hilarious. But, definitely skip the 1993 sequel for sure!

'Weekend at Bernie's is available on Hulu through the end of August and is also available on a few PVOD services.

Here are a few interesting tidbits for 'Weekend at Bernie's:

• Terry Kiser's stunt double suffered a few broken ribs during filming, mostly in the scene in which Bernie is dragged around the surface of the ocean, bumping into metal floating obstacles.

• Andrew McCarthy was asked to read the script to think about playing the part of Richard. When he read it, he loved the part of Larry, and got that instead.

• Richard suggests they go to Jones Beach with all the syringes. This is probably referring to the infamous "Syringe Tide" in 1987-88, when medical waste, including used syringes, washed up on several beaches in NY and NJ, costing massive losses in tourist dollars.

• This was considered as a vehicle for Corey Haim and Corey Feldman early in production before it was decided to make the leads older.

• The movie grossed $30 million at the box office and was profitable on home video. It has remained popular, in part because of repeated showings on cable TV.

• The movie's success inspired a 1993 sequel that didn't perform nearly as well as this movie.
