‘Dial of Destiny’ an epic adventure for Indy

For a little over four decades, everyone has enjoyed the exhilarating adventures of Indiana Jones. Starting with ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ in 1981, Indy has graced us with fun adventure-filled moments in ‘The Temple of Doom, ‘The Last Crusade’ and ‘Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.’

Now, the infamous archaeologist is finally back on the big screen for his final adventure in ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.’

Daredevil archaeologist Indiana Jones races against time to retrieve a legendary dial that can change the course of history.

Accompanied by his goddaughter, he soon finds himself squaring off against Jurgen Voller, a former Nazi who works for NASA.

Honestly, with all the delays and changes made over the years during the development of the latest ‘Indiana Jones’ film, I really didn’t think it would ever make it to the big screen. Now that it’s finally here, it’s really good to see the character back for one last big adventure and the long wait is worth it!

The long-awaited return of Indy delivers a lot of great adventure-filled action and excitement that you would expect from one of these films. There are quite a few stand-out moments in this fifth adventure that you’ll surely love.

The action-packed opening sequence is an incredible way to open this new adventure. Some of the sequence is featured in some of the film’s marketing and shows a younger Indiana Jones (with the use of de-aging). This whole sequence really reminds me of the older films in the series and they did a decent job making Harrison Ford look younger in this entire flashback sequence. The scene is amazingly shot and the action is really incredible.

‘Dial of Destiny’ also has a few twists and turns featured in the story that are quite entertaining and intriguing. The third act of the film takes a bit of a turn that is unexpected and it actually works for the film. I’m not going into spoiler territory but the last few moments are a nice way to wrap up the Indiana Jones’ story. It’s also good to see the Sallah character back after not appearing in the series since the 1989 film ‘The Last Crusade.’

Overall, ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’ is a fun, little adventure that anyone who has grown up watching these films will really enjoy. It was great to see Harrison Ford portray this infamous character one last time. This adventure also has a few callbacks from the previous films as well. Let’s see if you can spot any of them while you’re at the Dietrich watching this amazing adventure!

The cast: Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones; Phoebe Waller-Bridge as Helena; Antonio Banderas as Renaldo; John Rhys-Davies as Sallah; Shaunette Renee Wilson as Mason; Thomas Kretschman as Colonel Weber; Toby Jones as Basil Shaw; Boyd Holbrook as Klaber; Mads Mikkelson as Dr. Voller and Karen Allen as Marion. Marion’s role is brief in the film but it’s good to see her appear in the final installment.

‘Dial of Destiny’ is written by Jez Butterworth (Ford v Ferrari), John-Henry Butterworth (Ford v Ferrari), David Koepp (The Mummy) and James Mangold (Ford v Ferrari; Logan; The Wolverine) and also directed by Mangold as well.

‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’ is rated PG-13 for sequences of violence and action, language and smoking and has a running time of 154 minutes.
