'Flower Moon’ a powerful, exhilarating film adaptation

‘Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI’ is a 2017 non-fiction book by American journalist David Grann about the Osage Indian murders. Time magazine listed the novel as one of its top ten non-fiction books of 2017.

Now, the highly acclaimed novel makes the jump to the big screen from renowned filmmaker Martin Scorsese.

Based on the broadly lauded best-selling book, ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ is set in 1920s Oklahoma and depicts the serial murder of members of the oil-wealthy Osage Nation, a string of brutal crimes that came to be known as the Reign of Terror.

‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ is a well-told story that delivers captivating performances and shows that Martin Scorsese can still put together an amazing feature film.

This film is a mesmerizing and, at times, shocking depiction of the real life Osage Indian murders. ‘Flower Moon’ not only deals with the killings that actually occurred. But also shows how some people’s greed and corruption could lead to one of the biggest crimes of the early 20th Century,

This is also one of those films that you don’t want to miss a single moment. Yes, the running time is quite long — 3 hours 26 minutes or 206 minutes to be exact. Yet,

‘Flower Moon’ does an amazing job making sure audiences will be fully captivated during the entire lengthy running time. The incredible performances of the cast and a powerful score also help keep the film moving.

And, speaking of the cast, the performances from both Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert DeNiro are probably one of the best in their careers. Both of these actors have had amazing collaborations with Martin Scorsese and I hope both of them will team up with the amazing filmmaker once again soon. Lily Gladstone absolutely steals the show as DiCaprio’s wife. Her performance in some scenes are really empowering and heartbreaking. In fact, I hope all three of them will be nominated for awards season.

‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ is a must-see film that is definitely going to be on my top films list for the year. The film has great performances, an amazing score and marks another great directorial effort from Scorsese. And also marks another acting return of Brendan Fraser.

‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ is based on the David Grann novel, written by Eric Roth (Dune; A Star Is Born) and co-written and directed by Martin Scorsese (Netflix’s The Irishman; Silence; The Wolf of Wall Street).

Development of the ‘Flower Moon’ film has been in development since March 2016. This film isn’t the first motion picture about the Osage Murders. ‘Tragedies of the Osage Hills’ by James Young Deer was released in 1926, nearly a century ago.

‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ is rated R for violence, some grisly images and language and has a running time of 206 minutes.
