‘Longest Goodbye’ An Engaging Documentary

In the next decade, NASA is planning on sending astronauts to Mars for the first time.

Separated from Earth, and unable to communicate with ground in real time, crew members will experience extreme isolation that could affect their three year journey to the red planet.

‘Space: The Longest Goodbye’ is a Sundance-premiering documentary that follows a savvy NASA psychologist tasked with protecting daring space explorers.

‘Longest Goodbye’ is an engaging documentary showing us how the space program is getting the astronauts ready for the very long journey to the red planet.

Throughout the documentary, we see one of the astronauts on the International Space Station communicating with her family. You also get to see the toll that it takes on both the astronauts and their families. Despite them being able to communicate in real time from the I.S.S I'm sure it’s still fairly difficult for them.

We also get to see what the space program is working on so that the astronauts can still communicate in real time (or close to it) during their three year journey. In this film, it’s revealed that NASA is trying to use virtual reality technology and the use of artificial intelligence to possibly communicate.

It’s also shown how using this technology works and it’s actually really intriguing. The documentary doesn’t really go into major detail about the upcoming Mars journey, but this film primarily focuses on how they’re preparing the astronauts mentally - which is really talked about.

Overall, ‘Space: The Longest Goodbye’ is an interesting documentary about a space topic that’s rarely discussed. I was majorly interested in checking this documentary out since I’m really intrigued by anything space-related. The interviews that are shown are quite fascinating at times and seeing what the astronauts will be going through is simply incredible.
