'Ordinary Angel’ highly emotional and Inspiring

The Kingdom Story Company is an American film and TV studio that has been successfully bringing faith-based films to mainstream audiences. The studio has brought us ‘I Still Believe,’ ‘The Jesus Music,’ ‘American Underdog’ and last year’s ‘Jesus Revolution’ (which is also available on Netflix).

And now, the faith-based studio has brought another inspirational and highly moving story onto the big screen with ‘Ordinary Angels’ — and fair warning — you will need tissues for this one.

Based on a remarkable true story, ‘Ordinary Angels’ centers on Sharon Steves, a fierce but struggling hairdresser in small-town Kentucky who discovers a renewed sense of purpose when she meets Ed Schmitt, a widower working hard to make ends meet for his two daughters.

With his youngest daughter waiting for a liver transplant, Sharon sets her mind to helping the family and will move mountains for them.

What unfolds is the inspiring tale of faith, everyday miracles, and ordinary angels.

‘Ordinary Angels’ is a great little film that delivers moments that can be really moving, especially towards the latter half of the film.

Both Hilary Swank and Alan Ritchson did an amazing job in this film. While Swank is great in just about every role she plays, Ritchson really nails it.

Alan Ritchson is generally known for his action-packed roles in Amazon Prime’s ‘Jack Reacher’ series and last year’s ‘Fast X’ In this film, he does an astounding job with the emotional moments that his character endures and can be a little humorous in a couple parts here and there. Here, Ritchson can show that he can do more than just action.

And like I said before, you definitely need to bring tissues. When you see that the father would do absolutely anything to make sure his young daughter survives, it can really move you.

The third act is extremely moving and is guaranteed to make you shed a few tears. During the scene when you see the father trying to get his daughter to her new liver during one of the worst snowstorms ever and you see the whole town helping out, it’s just incredibly moving. In fact, during a showing that I attended, quite a few people were getting really teary-eyed.

So, I highly suggest you check out ‘Ordinary Angels’ while it’s showing at the Dietrich. The film is really inspirational and will leave you feeling moved as the end credits roll. Make sure to stick around during some of the credits where you see an update of this film’s story along with real pictures of the young girl and her family.

‘Ordinary Angels’ is written by Meg Tilly and Kelly Fremon Craig (Are You There God? It’s Me Margaret) and directed by Jon Gunn (producer of ‘Jesus Revolution’ and ‘American Underdog’).

‘Ordinary Angels’ is rated PG for thematic content, brief bloody images and smoking and has a running time of 117 minutes.
