“Paddington in Peru”: A Refreshing, Delightful Family Adventure

Paddington the Bear is back for another exciting adventure on the big screen with “Paddington in Peru.”
When Paddington discovers his beloved aunt has gone missing from the House for Retired Bears, he and the Brown family head to the jungles of Peru to find her.
Determined to solve the mystery, they soon stumble across a legendary treasure as they make their way through the rainforests of the Amazon.
The third cinematic adventure of everyone’s favorite marmalade loving bear gets whisked away to a fresh setting and delivers an exciting adventure that the whole family can easily enjoy together.
“Paddington 3” is a refreshing, delightful movie that has everything - laughs, emotion, heart, adventure - and still doesn’t lose the warmth and charm that the prior two movies had. A lot of the excitement really kicks in once the hunt for a certain treasure begins!
The third “Paddington” adventure also gives us quite a few laughs and both Antonio Banderas and Olivia Colman absolutely steals the show in their roles. Colman’s role as the singing nun who can be a little suspicious throughout the movie who acts a little odd at times and also likes to use the word “suspicious” a lot.
The treasure hunt sequences can also be quite interesting since it involves the lost city of El Dorado. There are times during all the treasure hunting fun that you can easily tell that some of the moments were done in front of a green screen, but shouldn’t really distract you while enjoying the movie.
Overall, “Paddington in Peru” offers plenty of family fun that will easily keep the entire
family entertained from beginning to end. The ending is also pretty satisfying and might pull at the heartstrings a bit. Also, stay during the credits for a fun little mid-credit scene.

Trivia: Sometime in late 2016 or early 2017, studio StudioCanal announced their intentions of a potential third movie and in February 2021, “Paddington 3” officially began development. British actress Emily Mortimer replaced Sally Hawkins in the role of Mrs. Brown.
A fourth “Paddington” movie is already in the works and could potentially be released in either 2027 or 2028 to coincide with Paddington the Bear’s 70th anniversary.
MPAA: PG for action, mild rude humor, and some thematic elements (running time 106 minutes)
The director of the two previous films, Paul King, has decided not to direct this installment. However, he pitched the idea for this third film and was involved as an executive producer.

The film was announced before Paddington 2 (2017) had begun filming or casting.
Rachel Zegler was initially set to play Gina Cabot in the film, but had to leave the project due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike. She was replaced with newcomer Carla Tous.
Despite being titled Paddington in Peru, only the Cuzco and Machu Pichu sequences were shot in the country. Most of the tropical landscapes featured in the film were shot in Colombia. The Colombian Film Commission offers a tax incentives and access to film production services, talent and crew. As a result, 80% of the filming outside England took place in Colombia with the remaining 20% actually being shot in Peru. The film also featured Black Park, Buckinghamshire, just off Pinewood studios and Berrybush Farm to recreate the retired bears home. These production decisions caused an uproar in the Peru film industry and among fans of the franchise in the Andean country.
Emily Mortimer replaced Sally Hawkins in the role of Mrs. Brown. It is not publicly known why Hawkins did not reprise her role from the previous two films.
Each of the three films in the series has been released by different studios in the United States. Paddington (2014) was released by The Weinstein Company, Paddington 2 (2017) by Warner Bros. Pictures and this film by Sony Pictures.
