'Theater Camp' is an enjoyable fun satire

Ben Platt and Molly Gordon star in the new comedy ‘Theater Camp’ as lifelong best friends and drama instructors at a rundown camp in upstate New York in the mockumentary ‘Theater Camp.’
When clueless tech-bro Troy (the owner’s son) arrives to run the property (into the ground), Amos (Pratt), Rebecca-Diane (Gordon) and production manager Glenn band together with the staff and students to stage a masterpiece, and keep their beloved summer camp afloat.
‘Theater Camp’ is an enjoyable and funny film that is really entertaining. This mockumentary (a work of fiction that’s presented in the style of a documentary) will really make you laugh during the film.
Like I said before, this film will really have you laughing. Before the owner’s son Troy comes into the film, there are a few moments that can give you a chuckle. Once Troy comes into play and obviously doesn’t know how to run a camp, hilarity definitely ensues.
Almost everything Troy tries ends up being a disaster, yet it will still have you laughing. The film’s lead characters, Amos and Rebecca-Diane, also have a hand with the laughter with their weird, and sometimes, dry humor. Some of the things that they say to the theater camp-goers can really make you chuckle.
‘Theater Camp’ also delivers some moments that can be on the heart-warming side. You see some of the kids at the camp show how much they love the camp, even though it’s run down and Troy isn’t making it any better.
Overall, ‘Theater Camp’ is an entertaining and enjoyable film. Sure, it can get a little silly at times. But this is a film that a lot of people, especially people who went to a theater camp, will really enjoy. If you’re looking for some light-hearted fun during the Fall Film Festival, definitely pay a visit to this Theater Camp.

A couple fun facts about the film: ‘Theater Camp’ had a world premiere at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival where it received two standing ovations. Searchlight Pictures acquired the rights to the film shortly after its world premiere for $8 million.
‘Theater Camp’ is rated PG-13 for some strong language and suggestive/drug references and has a running time of 92 minutes.
